About us

We are BlueTack, a sustainable marine services company focusing solely on Incident Management & Pollution Remediation. The founding members of BlueTack originate from and gathered their experience working for many years in the marine salvage industry. 

It is our aim to create solutions that are environmentally beneficial, advantageous to all stakeholders and have wider social benefits. We believe it is time for a new player in this market that approaches things differently. Ensuring that there is a better alternative for its client base.

The founders have agreed 5 building blocks to be integrated:

  1. Partnering with its key clients, that clients have a say and an option to participate in BlueTack ensuring involvement & transparency

  2. Contractors are members which allows them to actively take part in BlueTack

  3. Boutique services capability, that is agile, ensures bespoke solutions and innovative commercial models to support the selective client base 

  4. Cooperation between its members (contractors, clients & investors) on financials & budgets enabling collective decisions on its strategy & investment

BlueTack embraces the principles of the Blue Economy, creating solutions that provide added value to the environment, all relevant stakeholders and to society

What is the blue Economy?

BlueTack is in support of what we now call the Blue Economy. The maritime industry is the 7th largest global economy, a lifeline to many people around the world. The aim is to achieve a sustainable use of ocean, sea and coastal resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods and employment while preserving the health of the oceanic ecosystem.

Blue Economy enables circularity! The Blue Economy in its purest form ensures we support each other when operating within our specific industries. Guaranteeing that management of waste & pollution is handled correctly, enhancing use of renewables all with the goal to ensure global trade, providing a clear future for the next generation of marine professionals and ultimately contribute to cleaner and healthier oceans.

With BlueTack preparing the marine industry against potential incidents or mitigating its impact, this obviously will have a profound effect on the actual asset owner. More importantly it has a clear effect in protecting the marine environment. BlueTack ensures the right balance is applied and provides its value to the marine environment over pure economic drivers.

Bringing 15 years of experience in marine & oil and gas projects related to emergency preparedness & emergency response. Takes pride in assisting our clients in mitigating marine risks. Passionate about good coffee, patatas bravas from my in laws, Valencia, sunglasses and nice shoes.

Carl Henrik Frankman

Member

A German Master Mariner at heart Carl Henrik worked on dry cargo vessels and gas carriers, but living in Gothenburg, Sweden, with the harsh Nordic environment, incidents happening at the doorsteps and a neck for problem solving, he joined the marine specialists and salvage industry. In his free time he enjoys racing sailboats, hiking isolated trails and collecting wines that need at least 10+ years aging before even being considered enjoyable.

Willem de Jong

Member

Willem is a man who approach his work from an operational and executional perspective. Please don’t make things more complicated than they already are. Let’s see how you are planning to execute your work and discuss if that’s safe instead of prescribing what our teams must do with a lot of paperwork. Safe working is something you practice and who better to practice this then the craftsman him/her-self. Willem believes it is important to understand the work floor and the task at hand. In his spare time, you can find Willem in his own workshop, he likes to make his hands dirty welding and building stuff. Willem is a busy and happy man with a young family.

Tim van Beveren

Tim started his career in the maritime world with Svitzer Salvage. He is a graduated automotive repairman. With this knowledge he entered a training program to become a professional diver. Now after many years of experience he is the ideal salvor. Whether it is in or above water Tim knows his trade. Tim lived for 3 years in Paris and there he learned how to appreciate good wines. When it comes to wines it is like his work, he knows what he is talking about.

Steve Kent

Member

From a strong background in electrical engineering and a passion for wreck diving Steve was trained as a commercial diver. He did his time as a civils construction diver learning the trade before entering the the salvage world with Titan maritime as a salvage diver and progressing to supervising and offshore management. Now with 15 years in the industry he’s a jack of ‘all’ trades and a valuable member of the BlueTack team.

Ruud Plomp

Member

Ruud is somebody who started to understand the theories he learned in school by practicing in the field. His knowledge of safety, organizational cultures combined with his skills of firefighting makes him a valuable member of the cooperative. He is constantly busy with expanding his (practical) knowledge. Over the last 30 years he created a database with articles, books, etc. with all kinds of information related to, for example, safety, maritime, offshore and industrial incidents, decision making processes, organizational culture, etc. In his free time, he likes to travel and hike through Europe with his wife and daughter.

Rienk de Boer

Operations

Rienk started his career as Naval Architect at a large salvage company, being involved in large number of complex and high profile projects. After 8 years and looking for a change he spend a few years in the yacht building as well as the survey industry working in a variety of roles. During those “office jobs” he started to miss the salvage industry more and more, whereas he decided to return in 2021.

When not at work he’s out on the water sailing, attempting some wall climbing, running, moutainbiking and during the winter you can find him on the ice ring or on a snowy mountain. When the weather is not favourable he might show up as “a very unproffesional DJ without any fans” in an empty living room.

Joost van Laar

Member

Joost has over 10 years of experience in heavy lift operations. He gained his experience in roles as project and heavy lift engineer while working on several installation and decommissioning projects. Within these roles he has built up a broad range of knowledge regarding various heavy transport and lifting techniques. When he is outside the office or not on the job, he spends time with the family. If any time left, he enjoys cycling, sailing, skiing, and working on improving his home and restoring his recently bought 30-year-old Toyota Landcruiser

John Piroe

Member

John is a typical 5-legged sheep. An all-rounder with focus on the aquatic world. As a freelancer he worked for large companies such as AllSeas, Jumbo Maritime but also for smaller and family businesses such as Jack Up barge and DCN Diving. Most of the time working as a project or operations manager. If a job stalls, John is the man to pull it off again. Most important to him is his family. In his scare free time he likes to walk his dog in the endless reclaimed land behind his residence.

Jan’s experience ranged from working onboard of tankers, diving support vessels, barges, tugboats to running salvage operations, giving him a combined working experience of over 30 years in the marine and oil & gas industries. What will I learn?
An introduction to LNG as a fuel, are you starting with implementing LNG as a fuel in your fleet or you have such vessel sailing globally. We further provide you a brief introduction to the other new upcoming fuel types and its new challenges.

Amaline is a Quality & improvement professional with over 15 years of relevant experience in the field. One of her goals as a professional is to help raise awareness and translate (ISO) requirements into practical, no non-sense solutions that will serve the organization, work for the organization and not against it. She believes in the power of simplicity, she would say.

In her free time, she takes care of her two boys, her dog, her canary (found in the street) and her plants; amongst other (too many)  hobbies.  She also has a passion for yoga, which she also practices in her, by now, really scarce free time.
